Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Quality Improvement Scorecards and Financial Updates Now Available Municipal-Wide

CHATHAM-KENT: January 31, 2017 -- Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) 2016/17 Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) scorecards are now available on CKHA’s website www.ckha.on.ca under Public Accountability and Reporting and on Thursday, February 2, 2017, will be distributed across the municipality’s public libraries and at all municipal centres. Financial updates and “Role of a Member of the Board of Directors” – a document that summarizes the roles and responsibilities of Hospital Directors – are also available to members of the public at the sites across Chatham-Kent and online at www.askckha.com.

“Providing this information in an accessible manner fosters transparency and holds us accountable for performance improvement as we go through transformational change,” said Rob Devitt, Hospital Supervisor. “In particular, the QIP scorecard is essential to help us improve on a system level and deliver best possible patient care.”

As a key component to the Excellent Care for All Act 2010 (ECFAA), QIPs outline an organization’s priorities for quality improvement and strategies for implementation. Under the ECFAA, healthcare organizations, beginning with public hospitals, are required to develop and post QIPs annually. The QIP is a catalyst for change within organizations and an effective tool for a hospital to communicate to its boards, administration, staff, patients and the public that it is committed to, and accountable for, the delivery of high quality, patient centred care, and focused on creating a positive patient experience. To learn more about QIPs and their accompanying scorecards, visit www.ckha.on.ca under Public Accountability and Reporting.
